Portrait: Jörg Schleenbecker

Jörg Schleenbecker, photographer and author, is the creative mind behind the online gallery "Colors of Marrakech".

Even while studying electrical engineering at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, he pursued his passion for travel, writing, and photography, which he has maintained to this day. For many years, he worked part-time as a successful travel journalist for travel magazines and publishers, including the renowned Outdoor magazine, "Reisefieber" magazine, and the oriental specialist magazine "Arabesque". Numerous of his travel reports and photos have been published and printed.

For over 35 years, he has traveled to North Africa's Morocco, exploring Marrakech, the oriental trading metropolis on the edge of the High Atlas, countless times with his camera on numerous photo trips. During his extensive strolls through the old alleys and deep into the colorful souks of the Medina, he constantly discovers new motifs and unique facets of oriental life in one of the most exciting places in the Maghreb on each of his trips.

In addition to North Africa's Morocco and fascinating Marrakech, he also photographed and wrote about the Indonesian islands of Sumatra, Java, and Bali; about Nepal and the fascinating Himalayas, the dreamlike landscape gem of Norway in Northern Europe, the culinary and cultural landscape of Italian Tuscany, and the unique mountain world of the European Alps.

After the end of his more than 30-year full-time career as an Engineering Manager and Key Account Manager at a global-leading company in the field of Insurance and Risk Management, he now has more time to travel, photograph, and write. His online gallery "Colors of Marrakech" is constantly being expanded with new exciting photo artworks, most recently with the new collection "WELT MÄRKTE".
